Why You Should Return To World of Warcraft
We’ve all heard the news about World of Warcraft losing 44% of its subscriber base this year. Numbers are down to just 5.6 million, the lowest since 2006.
Many gold farmers gave up on World of Warcraft because it was simply becoming unprofitable.
But by the looks of the Legion expansion, WoW may be gearing up for a revival. And it’s more affordable than ever to play.
If you’re a former player and gold farmer, there are lots of reasons to return to World of Warcraft.
Blizzard Is Offering Huge Discount on World of Warcraft
It’s the holiday season, and Blizzard is feeling generous. From now until January 4, 2016, you can get your hands on World of Warcraft for just $4.99 – that’s a savings of 75%. And this includes vanilla WoW through Mists of Pandaria.
Here’s what the digital version includes:
- 1 month of game time
- Levels 1-90
A subscription is required, but you won’t have to pay for your first month.
Warlords of Draenor is Just $12.49
What if you’re already level 90 and don’t want to start up a new character? You’re in luck. Blizzard is also offering a huge discount on Warlords of Draenor. Right now, you can buy the expansion for 75% off ($12.49)
The digital version of the expansion includes:
- levels 91 through 100
- 1 level 90 character boost
You won’t be able to play this expansion without the previous expansions and you’ll need to sign up for a subscription, but this is a steal for the game’s latest expansion. Normally, Warlords of Draenor sells for $49.99.
If nothing else, it’s worth it to buy this expansion because it comes with one level 90 boost. This boost allows you to create a level 90 character right off the bat – no more wasting time leveling. This is great news for gold farmers. You’ll be able to dive right into new content, and you’ll only spend a weekend leveling to 100 (if you’re diligent).
Veteran Players are Coming Back to Play Legion
Right now, Blizzard is aiming for a September 2016 release of Legion, its newest expansion. And veteran players are coming back to gear up for what looks like one of Blizzard’s best expansions yet.
And former players have a lot of reasons to come back:
New Demon Hunter Class
Demon hunters are the disciples of Illidan Stormrage, and they’re frightening to both their enemies and allies. They’re not afraid to use chaotic magic to take on the Burning Legion, and they wield the powers of all the demons that they have slain.
Judging by what we know about the class so far, it looks like demon hunters will be very fun to play.
- They have amazing mobility. Demon hunters can glide with their monstrous wings and double jump.
- They can transform into demon form to improve abilities.
- They can serve as melee damage or tank.
Demon hunters wear light armor, and can wield daggers, warglaives, fist weapons, and 1-handed axes, maces and swords.
Pre-purchasing Gives You Perks
When you pre-purchase Legion, you get quite a few nice extra perks, like:
- Early access to Demon Hunters before the expansion is released.
- 1 level 100 boost.
And if you opt for the digital deluxe version, you’ll get the extras that come with the expansion ahead of the release. These goodies include:
- Felstalker mount for Heroes of the Storm & WoW
- Nibbles Pet
- Wings of the Betrayer for Diablo II
- Portraits for Starcraft II
Legion characters will be able to create a customized, legendary-quality weapon that grows with your character. Many veteran players are especially excited about this feature.
Order Halls and Level 110
Legion will be packed with new content that will help you level to 110. And Blizzard is also introducing Order Halls, which is essentially your base of operations. This is where you’ll rally heroes of your class, and send trusted followers out to complete missions.
A lot of veteran players are heading back to WoW to gear up for Legion, which means the game’s player base will increase significantly over the next year. Getting in now will give you an advantage as you can ensure that you’re ready for the expansion, too.
You can pre-purchase the digital standard edition for $49.99 and the digital deluxe edition for $69.99 right now.
Need Ideas on How to Profit from WoW?
A while back, we shared a post on how to make money with WoW, and many of these same tactics are still valid today.
But with Legion coming, you have other options, too.
For one thing, you can use your account to farm old content for legendary weapons and boost your account’s value significantly. Of course, you’ll also be able to sell gold and in-game items. And you always have the option of selling boosting services, be it PvP or leveling.
Legion is slated for a September 2016 release, which means you’ll have plenty of time to gear up and get ready for the new content. And if you pre-purchase now, you can get started playing and mastering the demon hunter class early on. This way, you’ll be able to offer boosting service or even coaching to new class players. You can also start playing the new content as soon as it’s released, so you can find the best farming spots early on.
WoW was once considered the best MMORPG around, and while the hype has died down over the years, it’s still one of the most played titles in the genre. Veteran players will be coming back to WoW, and you should be, too. Even if it’s just for a short while, you can profit off of the hype surrounding the new expansion, and earn a nice return on your investment in no time.
And if you’re serious about coming back for Legion, don’t forget to sign up for beta. You may be able to get in and start playing during beta testing to see the new content and start looking for new ways to profit well before the game is released.
