NBA and Take-Two Interactive to Launch NBA 2K eLeague in 2018
The National Basketball Association (NBA) announced on its site that it’s forming a brand new eSports league next year. Players will now have a chance to compete for an NBA trophy.
The NBA is partnering up with video game publisher Take-Two Interactive, best known for its popular video game title ‘Grand Theft Auto’ and ‘NBA 2K’ basketball game to manage ‘NBA 2K eLeague’ which will debut in 2018.
The NBA 2K eLeague teams will likely be managed by real NBA franchises and the basketball gaming league will follow the exact concept as the actual NBA. Players get drafted from virtual try-outs, and each team will comprised of five players.
Eight to twelve teams will take part in the gaming league at the initial stage which NBA intends to expand up to 30 teams later on. There will be 82 game schedule leading to playoffs and also a championship.
