Hoard the Credits, SWTOR Knights of the Fallen Empire: Chapter XII Confirmed
April 7 will be a big day for SWTOR – the release of Chapter XII has been confirmed. Known as Visions in the Dark, the new chapter takes players into the vast wilderness of a new planet: Odessen. This will be the first time players face Emperor Valkorion since becoming an Outlander.
Bioware and Lucasfilm say this will be the biggest fight yet, so whether you’re a casual player or make money through your SWTOR account, it’s time to stock up on credits and be ready for the chapter’s release.
A Look at Chapter 12: Visions in the Dark
The main storyline continues in the new chapter, where you’ll uncover more secrets about your destiny and ties to your dark enemy. If you can survive the challenge, you’ll be rewarded greatly with a new weapon inspired by the greatest Force users.
So far, Bioware and Lucasfilm have only released as small teaser of Visions in the Dark (see the trailer here), but from what we can see, this is going to be one of the toughest fights yet.
Visions in the Dark, Chapter 12, is the third chapter in the Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion. Chapter 10, Anarchy in Paradise, introduced Firebrand, an ally and famous mercenary who had a grudge against the Eternal Throne. Players were forced to face the ugly consequences of their past decisions. Chapter 11, Disavowed, had players join Major Aric Jorgan, commander of the Havoc Squad. Outlanders battled alongside the commander on deadly missions behind enemy lines.
Now, players will finally face off against the immortal Emperor Valkorion – the game’s biggest baddie. Players are tasked with defeating Arcann’s forces, but it will take some serious strength and skill to achieve this goal. Like other chapters, the choices you make will affect gameplay and the world around you, and you’ll be forced to face those consequences.
Will you shatter Arcann’s forces forever? Probably not. Considering there are at least four more planned chapters in the expansion, it’s a safe bet that your victory will be short-lived. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be prepared for the fight.
If you’re new to SWTOR, the Knights of the Fallen Empire is a return to Bioware’s storytelling, and players start at level 60. You’re an Outlander, and a veteran of the Great Galactic War. The goal is to create a team of allies to join forces with your alliance. Along the way, you meet new companions and reunite with some familiar faces.
Each chapter is like a mini expansion, and the storyline continues with the release of each one. SWTOR reinvented itself (or tried to, at least) with the expansion. Eight classes are available with deeper stories to make the entire Star Wars story more immersive than others before.
Subscribers benefit from freebies and perks with new chapter releases, which makes it worthwhile to upgrade to a paid account.
Freebies for Subscribers
We don’t know much about this chapter yet, but we do know that players who are subscribed by April 1 get some freebies.
The biggest freebie is early access. If you’re subscribed by April 1, you can start playing the new chapter on April 5 – two days before the official release on April 7. That’s incentive enough to subscribe now if you haven’t already, especially if you’re monetizing the game.
Subscribed players will also get an HK-55-inspired weapon set that includes:
- HK-55 Blaster Pistol
- Sniper Rifle
The weapon set is a nice bonus, especially if you’re just jumping back into the game.
All of these items will be available on April 5 through in-game mail, so you don’t have to wait until the official release to start using them. They should be waiting for you when you log in on early access release day.
Now, SWTOR is free to play, but free accounts do have restrictions. If you’re playing on a free account, you will not get these free items or early access to the expansion. In fact, you won’t get access to expansions at all.
A subscription will cost you $14.99 per month, but you can also buy in 90-day and 180-day increments. A one-time 60-day subscription is available for $29.99 (non-recurring).
As a subscriber, you get access to the new expansion and all chapters, including Visions in the Dark and upcoming chapters. But you also get a host of other benefits, including:
- Access to all character species in the game.
- Unlimited access to PvE Flashpoints, Operations, high-level missions, and PvP Warzones.
- Monthly supply of Cartel Coins that you can trade for XP boosts, gear, mounts and more.
- Strongholds are included with the subscriptions.
Get Ready for Visions in the Dark – Stock Up on Credits
If you haven’t subscribed yet, get started now. Time is running out to secure your freebies – you only have until April 1 to subscribe.
Subscribed players should start gearing up for the release. Start by stocking up on credits – you’ll need them. If you don’t have an ample supply, buy credits if you need to. Right now, you can buy 6,000 for about $6. But prices probably won’t stay that low as we get closer to the April 5 early access date.
If you’re a veteran player and thinking about monetizing the game, now might be a good time to sell your account. With all the hype surrounding the new chapter, new (and returning) players are going to want to dive right into the action. Your account’s value will likely be higher in the days leading up to and shortly after the chapter release.
Of course, you can also monetize the game by selling services and credits. If you offer farming services, be prepared for an influx of new players and be ready to get out there and start playing right away on April 5.
The teaser trailer doesn’t tell us much about what this new chapter will bring in terms of the chapter length and content, but one thing’s for sure: you will need credits. So stock up now while you can – and before prices skyrocket.
